CREATING PORTLAND PODCAST
Our awesome artist this week is Troy Mathews who creates breathtaking pieces in Portland while being an arts educator. In our conversation with Troy this week, we discuss which audiences to address in social justice art-making, the need for more variety in our city’s gallery space, and even how to use tax loopholes to make big money from art in Oregon. We’re all over the map in this important conversation so be sure to check it out!

In The Mix is an exhibition of thirteen artists exploring the complexities of bi-racial and multi-racial identities to promote a larger discussion and dialogue. The artworks include photography, painting, video, installation, books, and sculpture that examine personal histories, historical definitions and stereotypes, and the influence of mixed race histories on contemporary cultural definitions. The exhibition is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of the Arts, and the Visual Arts Center and curated by Kirsten Furlong.
